This course was designed as a transition course. It will be of most use to the following people:

1. Those transitioning from an individual contributor to a management position.

2. Those transitioning from the military to the civilian sector, and

3. Those transitioning from the airlines to corporate and charter.
What you are going to learn

Part 135 Chief Pilot

The title Chief Pilot is given by Part 135 operators to the person responsible for the performance outputs of the flight crew employee group. While the title may be the same within the industry, the level of authority and work-scope may differ wildly from company to company. Part 135 operators may have one airplane, one pilot all the way to 100 or more aircraft and hundreds of pilots.
You’ll use this information as you examine different Chief Pilot opportunities. Asking the right questions during the interview is key to finding a job that is the right fit. Which is right for you? Executive transportation, Cargo operations or Air ambulance?
Once hired, you'll need to build key alliances both vertically and horizontally. You need to know who those key people are, what you need from them and what they need from you.

And finally with the completion of the course you will have a template for a job description and analysis that you can use as you build your department. While the template is for the Chief Pilot position it is easily adjusted for other positions within the flight department.
